Paolo Angeli’s Japan tour successfully ended with a very intense concert at the historical Jazz Club Mokkiriya in Kanazawa.
Angeli alternated acoustic performances in small clubs to auditorium live, drawing from a four-hour repertoire that allows the Sardinian musician to use a ‘passe-partout’ with publics of different latitudes: Africa, Asia, North and South America to the shores of Europe. In Japan, the uniqueness of the artist, whose unmistakable particularity lies in the encounter between the Sardinian tradition and innovation, was met with great enthusiasm in a series of sold-out performances: before the exhibition in Kanazawa, the guitarist played at the Kobata auditorium in Kitakyushu, at the Teatro Giovanni Agnelli in Tokyo, and at the Italian Centre Art Gallery in Fukuoka.
The Japanese tour is to be followed by the Australian tour, with concerts in solo, master classes and original productions with Australian musicians, at Melbourne Jazz Festival, in Sydney and in Canberra at the Street Theatre.
The tour presenting Paolo Angeli’s latest album ‘S’û’ has touched all continents, consolidating a career that has become increasingly international. The artist will soon release a double album with live recordings taken between 2015 and 2016. These recordings capture a very creative period of the musician, born in Sardinia and resident in Barcelona since 2005, the ambassador of contemporary Sardinian culture in the world.
The journey of S’Û – the mythological hero created by the writer Sergio Atzeni – will have its epilogue with ten concerts at the prestigious Concert Hall in United Kingdom.
